The 2025 Youth Poetry Division entries for the ‘Mail In’ division may be mailed, hand-delivered or emailed by Monday, April 15, 2025. Students who wish to compete ‘IN PERSON’ must also sign up by April 20, 2025 by texting, calling or emailing Dove Schmidt at 918-939-9085, dove.morgan@yahoo.com.
The IN PERSON contest competition will be Friday April 25, 2025at the Crossroads Ranch. 21186 South 465th W Avenue, Depew, Oklahoma. IN PERSON contestants do not have to show their poetry to judges but they are allowed to read your poetry. Contest is open for all students K-12 and it must be your own work which is based on the cowboy lifestyle, ranching and agriculture.
Poems must be a minimum of 8 lines and maximum of 2 pages. They can be handwritten and must be original work of the student. One entry per student.
Poems will be judges on creativity, originality, figurative language, appropriateness of content, and structure (traditional form-rhyme, voice, stanzaic pattern and other elements that comprise poetry. IN PERSON contestants should dress in cowboy attire.
